Whether it was hunting with Treeing Walker hounds for coons and bobcats, or squirrel or varmint hunting with Jack Russells and Rat Terrier crosses---the Luton family has always had their dogs involved in their outdoor activities. Dennis has hunted with dogs his entire life, and his wife, Jan, was raised by a houndsman. She hunted bobcats with her father throughout her childhood years.
In recent years it has been more difficult to hunt free-ranging hounds in populated areas, so Dennis has shifted the bulk of his hunting interests towards archery hunting throughout Texas and New Mexico. As an outdoor writer, Dennis has come in contact with many hunters over the years. There is no doubt that the No. 1 need among the hunting world today is an increase in the number of blood trailing dogs that are available to the public.
Dennis and Jan have determined to breed, train, and promote top-quality blood trailing dogs in their home state of Texas. They have used dogs on blood trails occasionally in the past, but they are now training all of their dogs to work the trail of wounded animals. After seeing several breeds in action (including the top blood trailing cowdogs of Roy Hindes III in South Texas), they have decided to build their future with Jagdterriers---that have been bred for this specific purpose for many generations.

My brother gave us a little yellow puppy for a wedding gift in 1975, and she turned out to be the best little varmint dog we've ever seen. She would tree as good as any hound we owned, and would fight anything from a lizard to a raccoon!
